President, Look for the Blessing Ministries
Mary Kay is from the Washington, DC area. After living the last 19 years in Spokane, WA and Sioux Falls, SD, she has recently returned to the east coast and resides in South Orange, NJ. Active in ministry since her youth, she has been a cantor and a speaker, led praise and worship and small groups, worked with youth and adults, and prays with others as a ministry. She has been a leader in retreats such as Youth Encounter with Christ and College Encounter with Christ, and was the Student Campus Minister at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.
She led women’s ministry and assisted with youth ministry at St. Michael Parish in Sioux Falls, SD. Her public speaking includes many types of organizations and ministries such as the 125th Anniversary of the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese, Avera Health Women in Medicine Retreat, Magnificat Prayer Group – Sioux Falls, Parish Missions, St. John’s Parish – Melbourne, AU, and RiseFest Christian Music Festival, IA. She addresses victims of violence, families regarding mental health experiences from a personal perspective, family issues in general as they relate to life and faith, God is Big as a theme, and many more applications for finding relief by doing life with God. Most recently she was the keynote speaker for the New Ulm Diocese Women’s Conference, MN.
In the past, she served on the board of The Arlington County Temporary Shelter for Battered Women in VA, the Patient and Family Centered Care Council for Avera Behavior Health, the Avera Zero Suicide Committee, and in support of pro-life, she served on the Board of Directors for Bethany Christian Services.
Her many life experiences of difficulties and blessings, including an abusive first marriage, miracle healing of an illness, and exposure to mental health/addiction best practices, have, through the power of the Holy Spirit, given her an understanding ear. Praying with and encouraging others in knowing just how big God is, is her passion as is scripture and encouraging others toward personal encounters with scripture. She advocates handling, holding, and marking in “The Book” and learning that God’s word is alive, real, and accessible to everyone. She is in the process of writing and editing her first book. In it she will delve into the themes mentioned here previously as well as share her experience of being healed in a miracle in 2007 and her belief that miracles are for then, now, and all time.
Mary Kay founded look for the Blessing Ministries in 2016. She is currently pursuing an MA in Theology, Biblical Studies at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Seton Hall University, and holds a BA in Special Education with a music minor. She and her husband Mike, a systematic theologian, are the parents of five children, ages 21-35.
